Jake Vitali believes in community and wants to use his skills to make a difference.

His life experience has taught him that collaboration, communication, curiosity, persistence, and accountability are the keys to success. He believes you never stop learning and that sometimes mistakes offer the greatest lessons.

During his tenure as City Editor of the Sentinel & Enterprise, Vitali fostered a vibrant team culture despite everyone working remotely. He added freelance contributors and established an internship program with Fitchburg State University. His team consistently outpaced digital performance and published stories that attracted statewide attention.

As City Editor, Vitali put a strong emphasis on community. Creating a newspaper that was reflective of the community was at the core of his work. He engaged the community by listening to their needs and concerns and using the newspaper to call attention to important issues.

His promotion to City Editor came following a stint reporting for The Sun of Lowell. In that role, he published stories that attracted statewide and national attention including an investigation into the Rourke Bridge, the ascension of the nation’s first Cambodian American mayor, and the plight of small-town residents trying to save their neighborhood from an out-of-state developer.

In addition to journalism, Vitali has experience in designing websites, photographing a multitude of subjects, and creating audio and video productions. He’s also a pretty good musician and an even better cook.
